History of The Princess Royal

History

The Princess Royal pub dates back to 1926 when it was built for Courage Brewery by Guy Maxwell Alwin. The building containing our Beautiful Bedrooms was built at a later date by Gales Brewery; which was acquired by Fuller’s in 1999. The entire property benefited from a full refurbishment in 2016.

Stone Age, Roman and Saxon dwellings have been found in Farnham, and as a result of such early settlement, it’s packed with historical buildings and ruins. Although The Princess Royal is relatively modern – designed in 1926 by British architect Guy Maxwell Aylwin – a Mesolithic site was discovered on the site of The Princess Royal three years before it was built.
